A total of 51 Oklahomans have now died from COVID-19, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. As of Monday morning a total of 1,327 confirmed positive cases were reported, an increase of 339 from Friday.

Pursuant to Governor Stitt issuing a catastrophic health emergency Sunday, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) continues to update reporting which will create more transparency and ultimately notify first responders if the address they are responding to corresponds to an address of a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19.

In order to comply with state and federal privacy requirements, the patient’s name will stay protected.

OSDH is working with the Office of Emergency Management to channel the information to the 911 dispatch system through processes already in place.

Kay County now has 30 cases confirmed of COVID-19.

Oklahoma has has 1,422 negative COVID-19 test results and a total of 340 Oklahomans are hospitalized.

The state has had one death in the 18-35 age range, two deaths from ages 36-49, 10 from 50-64 and 38 ages 65 and over.

Osage County has now passed Kay County with 31 positive cases.

Payne County has 21. Garfield has five, Grant has one and Noble has six.

The Kay County Health Department has announced curbside COVID-19 testing will be available by appointment only at the Kay County Health Department – Blackwell, on April 9.

The Kay County Health Department encourages those individuals 18 years and older who are experiencing a fever of 100.4 or higher, cough, or shortness of breath to contact the Kay County Health Department at 580-762-1641 to reserve an appointment. Please specify if wanting to schedule testing at the Blackwell location. Testing is free and does not require insurance. Instructions for utilizing the curbside testing service will be provided at the time the appointment is made.

A physician’s order is not needed in order to be tested through the Health Department’s curbside testing option. However, they do encourage established patients seeking testing to contact their primary care provider.

Please remember COVID-19 testing at the Kay County Health Department is being done curbside, by appointment only. Individuals are asked to remain in their vehicle at all times.
