PONCA CITY, Okla., – The skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members of AllianceHealth Ponca City support the health and well-being of patients who come to the hospital for expert care. Beyond providing clinical care, the AllianceHealth Ponca City is a cornerstone of our community and a major contributor to the economic health of Ponca City as a major employer and tax-payer and through resources it invests to expand and enhance the medical services available close to home. The overall impact is significant and totaled more than $52 million in 2022.

Care was provided at more than 100,000 patient encounters, including more than 17,000 emergency department visits, more than 1,500 inpatient admissions and more than 3,000 surgeries. Over 87,000 patients received care across the AllianceHealth Medical Group physician clinics, Diagnostic Imaging and Rehabilitation Therapy. Joy was delivered to local families with the birth of more than 300 babies.

“Our team is committed to providing quality care for each patient visiting our various healthcare facilities,” said Chris Mendoza, chief executive officer for AllianceHealth Ponca City. “I am extremely proud by our staff’s relentless work to provide the best safe, quality care.”

AllianceHealth Ponca City offers an externship program for selected nursing students in collaboration with Northern Oklahoma College (NOC). In addition, an internal program is available that offers employment experience to students enrolled at NOC, Pioneer Technology Center and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Through these programs, students’ professional development is supported through structured learning opportunities supported by the nursing staff, and many program participants are then recruited as qualified graduates to be professionals in the hospital and its clinics, thus increasing the nursing workforce in our community.

AllianceHealth Ponca City also gives back to the broader Ponca City region by providing over $14 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the payment of $2 million in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services.

Support for local charitable and community organizations such as United Way of North Central Oklahoma, the Ponca City Fire Prevention Advisory Council and the Community Health Foundation, includes financial donations and outreach. These contributions help support scholarships to area students pursuing a degree in the areas of health and medicine, purchase equipment for emergency response personnel training, and help provide grants to local organizations working to improve the health of Kay County.

The hospital’s payroll of more than $29 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. Our hospital offers enhanced benefits to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals, including student loan contributions, reimbursement of licensure and certification expenses, as well as tuition reimbursement through the hospital’s Pathways program to demonstrate appreciation of the team and create pathways for their success.

Quality of care is demonstrated through achievement of Joint Commission accreditation and accredited chest pain center from the American College of Cardiology. In 2022, the hospital became a primary stroke center, which recognizes healthcare organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care; and it was awarded an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, recognizing achievements in protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.

CEO Mendoza continued, “Our community impact extends beyond the vital care we provide. We are a cornerstone of this community and it is our goal and strong commitment to provide top-notch healthcare services thus creating a healthier, better community for all.”
