Lowell Duane Hicks

WICHITA, KAN. — Lowell Duane Hicks, affectionately known as L.D. to his family and friends, was ushered into the presence of Christ on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, having completed his life here on earth. With the help of many caring and compassionate doctors and nurses, L.D. fought a brave battle with colon cancer over the last six and a half years.

L.D., Vietnam vet and owner of Wichita Diesel and Turbo in Wichita, Kan., is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandy; son, Forrest Hicks and family, Donna, Hunter and Madison of Loveland, Colo.; daughter, Teresa Spurlin and family, Justin, Lucian and Merrill of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Angie Harrod and family, Greg, Aidan, Donovan and Keegan of Wichita, Kan.; father, Herman Jordan; sister, Deanna Raulston; brothers, Gary Jordan and wife Genie, and Terry Jordan and wife Tammy, all of Ponca City.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Monica June and Francis Maye, who died at birth; mother, Juanita Jordan; brother, Robert Jordan; and sister, Jeanene Caldwell.

L.D. has now finished the course given to him by his loving Father and rests eternally in His presence. Memorials have been established with Central Community Church and Good Shepherd Hospice. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, at Central Community Church of Wichita, Kan. Arrangements were under the direction of Baker Funeral Home of Wichita.
