Ponca City native Justin W. Trenary was recently presented with the Legion of Merit Medal for 23 years of active federal service with the United States Army.
Trenary is currently assigned to US Army South located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Major General Clarence K.K. Chinn presented the award on Monday at the Army South Headquarters. Justin’s wife Darcey Trenary was in attendance along with Justin’s children Dex and Breiden.
Also in attendance was Justin’s father, Martin Trenary of Peckham, and sister 2LT Tara Trenary of San Angelo, Texas.
Trenary’s mother Marie Trenary is Programming Specialist for the Ponca City Senior Center.
Trenary is concluding his military career and moving back to Kay County this spring. He and his wife purchased their “forever home’ in Newkirk and Trenary will begin a new career at OG&E’s Sooner Power Plant as an Auxiliary Operator.
Trenary was raised in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1994, enlisting into the US Army following his graduation and attending basic training and airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Now a Warrant Officer Four, Trenary first served with the Army Rangers.
Trenary had previously been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
Trenary’s brother Chad is also a Warrant Officer Four and has recently been selected for promotion to Chief Warrant Officer Five. His sister Tara is a newly appointed Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force.
