WINFIELD — Debi Pickens and Debbie Ross will be the guest speakers at the March 13 meeting of the Walnut Valley Quilt Guild.
Both Pickens and Ross have been quilting most of their adult lives, and both love to travel and learn new techniques.
They both consider themselves to be art quilters and love designing a variety of quilts.
The two met eight years ago and discovered they had a lot in common. Both enjoy bright bold colors, surface design , dyeing, piecing and applique. They are also both married to guys named Bart!
Pickens has been quilting for about 35 years. She loves dyeing and making original quilts, especially small quilts due to the quicker gratification. Her favorite part is pulling material from her stash. She still loves learning and takes as many classes as she can and she has a huge stack of UFO’s to prove it.
Pickens has retired after 30 years as a speech pathologist and now wonders how she ever had time to work. Her lecture is “All My Abstracts turn into Landscapes.”
Ross has been a quilter since the 90s. She also cross stitches and does fabric dyeing and surface design. She loves color and nature. Her quilting style now is free form piecing, modern and abstract quilting.
Her program is “Small Quilts”
Meeting times are at 1 and 6:30 p.m. at the Corner Bible Fellowship Church, located at 3725 East 9th in Winfield. All guests are welcome.
